The Political Sphere of Rome

Standard: 7.1.11. Study the early strengths and lasting contributions of Rome (e.g., significance of Roman citizenship; rights under Roman law...

SS Objective: The HHG Tributes of 2019 will be able to describe the political structure othe early Roman Republic.

Step 1: DO NOW | Would you want to be ruled by another group of people? Why or why not?  

Step 2: We will begin reading and annotating this article together. The more you practice, the better you get! Why do you think we read so much?!?!

Step 4: Timeline Practice! Social and political structures of ancient Rome. Use the years to figure out their order. 

Homework: Explain the following terms in 3-5 sentences using details from today's article. Make connections to the U.S. government today. Then answer the final question in at least one paragraph (5-7 sentences), you may write more if you need more to explain in depth.

4. Why it is important to people that their voice be heard by those who govern them? Discuss another time in history that people had to fight for equality. *HINT: Think about what could happen to you if the government does not care about your voice? What might our lives in America look like if we had no rights? Is there a time when people were fighting for equality in America? What would life look like if they had not stood up against inequality?
