A Guide to Excrutiatingly Correct Email Ettiquette

Objectives: 
  • HHG Tributes of 2019 will understand that internet communication is not private and can remain in place to be viewed by everyone, including parents and employers.
  • The HHG Tributes of 2018 will be able to bookmark important websites, add contacts to their gmail, and send Ms. Kelly a proper email.


KEY POINTS:
1. Technology is a tool, not a toy.
2. Email is a formal means of communication not text. 
3. There is a right way and a wrong way to send an email.

Step 1 | DO NOW. Answer the following question on your own sheet of paper:
Why is e-mail etiquette important when writing or responding to an e-mail?

Step 2 | Discussion:

 What is e-mailing? 
 How many of you use e-mail? 
 Why are e-mails important? 
 What is e-mail etiquette? 
 Why is it important to have good e-mail etiquette? 
 What makes an e-mail different from snail mail?

Step 3 | Class Notes: Important Elements to consider when writing an email. Note: If you are absent, the key to today's guided notes is at the bottom of the document.

Step 4 | Independent Practice: Email Judging!--> If you do not finish this in class, you must finish it in addition to your regular homework.
